Lampropeltis alterna Range: Chihuahuan desert regions of northeastern Mexico & Big Bend Texas Typical adult size: 3 to 3 1/2 feet Our alterna breeding groups consist of "choice" locality matched specimens from both eastern and western populations. The extreme variety of color and pattern mutations of this species is truly amazing, with no two being exactly alike. The fascination with these variations and the ability to explore them further through captive breeding makes this snake one of the most rewarding species to raise and breed. Some hatchlings can be challenging to raise, many will require time and patience to convert them to eating easily available mice. We will gladly get your animals started on mice prior to shipping. We also offer non-feeding hatchlings at a reduced price. Once feeding on mice gray-bands are easy to maintain, this coupled with their remarkably docile nature and small size make them excellent "pet" or display animals as well. |
